Conceptual illustration built by Rogue River Technology to show the E-RES 1D / 2D / 3D RCS
scatterer-programming workflow. This is not ELDES software, not real RF or DRFM, and not validated or
accredited output. The returns are illustrative point-scatterer physics. Specifications shown are
draft until confirmed against the current ELDES datasheet.
Model limits · read before lab use
Range profile: two scatterers closer than the displayed Δr will not resolve. That limit is the lesson, not a bug. Unwindowed sinc sidelobes (about −13 dB) are real and shown.
Frequency scaling: specular peaks scale as f² (about +11 dB X to Ka) because the flashes are modeled as plate-like. Edges and curved bodies scale weaker; treat the f² rise as the specular case only.
RCS vs aspect: a non-coherent power sum, so it shows the underlying scatterer lobe structure. A real radar sees far finer scintillation from coherent interference between scatterers.
Cross-range: resolution assumes a fixed 4° aspect change. In real ISAR it comes from target rotation (Doppler spread) over the dwell, not a radar setting.
No Doppler axis: JEM, chaff Doppler rejection, and micro-Doppler are not modeled. The aircraft inlet flicker is scintillation, not true JEM.
ECM levels: RGPO, decoy, and chaff RCS are illustrative. A real repeater must beat the skin return to capture the gate. Absolute target RCS is illustrative, not a specific platform.

Cyan is the target itself. Amber is a countermeasure return (chaff, decoy, false target). Magenta is deception that walks the radar range gate off the ship, shown on the range profile. The chaff, decoy, and pull-off run on the scenario clock. Press Run if it is not already moving.

Resolution knobs. IBW sets range resolution: switch the target to Missile and toggle 1.0 / 1.3 GHz to watch the profile peaks and the ISAR vertical (range) axis sharpen. Band sets cross-range and flash width: on the missile, X to Ka sharpens the ISAR horizontally and narrows the 3D flashes. On the 150 m ship both knobs over-resolve the target, so the change shows on the smaller targets, not the ship.
